DEEP PURPLE To Close This Year's MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL
April 17, 2008According to SwissInfo.ch, British hard rock legends DEEP PURPLE will close the 42nd Montreux Jazz Festival in July.
DEEP PURPLE immortalized the event in their song "Smoke on the Water", based on a fire at Montreux Casino in 1971.
Around 90 groups will perform from July 4 to July 19, with the festival offering 250 concerts in addition to Lake Geneva crossings and musical rail trips.
The program, which was officially unveiled today (April 17),offers a mix of musical legends such as LEONARD COHEN, JOAN BAEZ and PAUL SIMON and more recent big names, including THE GOSSIP and GNARLS BARKLEY.
